Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

There were camphaser issues on the 2018, 2019 and 2020 as well as 10R80 issues and a severe overheating problem. I felt like I was a beta tester for the 2018 Navigator. My 2018 Navigator spent 6 months total in the dealership and I think the engine was opened up 3 times. In early 2020 before...

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

I didnt use the Ruthenium plugs for an Ecoboost...I used it for a 3.7 liter Duratec. I use Motorcraft plugs for warranty purposes. I have 150k fleet warranty on the Navigators. So if something happens to the engine I dont want anyone pointing to the aftermarket plugs and saying thats the...

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

Here is the thermostat I pulled out of my 2021 Lincoln Navigator versus the redesigned model. The redesigned model has the black end and the model in the 2021 a brass end. As for part numbers Ford changes parts all the time most especially spark plugs. I will refer you to the dealer or the...

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

NGK makes the Motorcraft spark plugs. As for the air filter the vehicle was designed for that air filter or vice versa. Ford will blame the aftermarket air filter if there are issues. In terms of warranty you are better of using the parts Ford tells you to use especially the oil filter If...

transmission temp got to 300 degrees, is that hot enough to where it needs a rebuild/replace transmission?

The other thing in this post I wanted to point out is it was a mistake to take it to a transmission shop. Its best to go to a dealership and pay the diagnostic fee for a real diagnosis. The 10 speed is still fairly new and its best for the dealership service department to diagnose problems...

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

You should input your vin into the Ford parts website and then look up thermostat. Take note of what its telling you is the correct thermostat. Then go over to Rockauto and look up your vehicle and get the Motorcraft thermostat. RockAutos parts catalog is generally correct but its a good idea...

transmission temp got to 300 degrees, is that hot enough to where it needs a rebuild/replace transmission?

The shutters save 0.5% in gas and only serve to #1) help the car warmup in winter and #2) save 0.5% gas. I would disconnect them while they are wide open.

Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022...replace it

If you are having cooling issues you should know Ford quietly redesigned the thermostat in 2022. Replace it now if you have the old one. The problem was the thermostat sticking closed. The other thing to know is thermostats do not last forever and should be replaced every 50,000 miles or any...

transmission temp got to 300 degrees, is that hot enough to where it needs a rebuild/replace transmission?

I just found this post on Google. For coolinf system problems here is what you need to do to resolve. #1. Check the active grille shutters. I disconnect mine for the warm months over 60 degrees. Must be disconnected while the vehicle is on, AC on which will open the shutters wide open. Do...
