If you check my previous posts under Anti-theft system I have completed so many checks, I know its not the fuel pump, crank or cam sensor which were replaced. Fuel pressure is 44 psi. I have to wait about 1 to 2 minutes before I can start my 2000 expedition Eddie Bauer 4.6L RWD. In other words, if I try to start it, it only cranks and no start. However, if I put the key in run position, I have to wait a few minutes before it starts. Sometimes it still will not start. HELP!!!
Getting no codes on OBDII.
Need help!!!! Took it to the dealer who told me it was a crank sensor. After I reminded him it was replaced, he told me it was the PCM. If its the PCM would it still start? Why is it waiting to start????? What else could be causing the issue of waiting to start. Something must be delaying or starting to go out...

What? No one knows how to deal with this issue... Can the transponder in the key malfunction to do the same thing?

Just read this:

Systems B, C and E have an anti-scan function. If you attempt to start the vehicle with an unprogrammed key, the theft indicator will flash rapidly and the vehicle will not start. Leave the key in the RUN position for 30 seconds for the anti-scan feature to time out. The vehicle will fail to start during this 30-second time period even if a correctly programmed key is used.

I took my key to Wal-Mart to see if they see the transponder in the key and they said it was not registering. Can this be the issue of crank, no start? Guess this may be too hard for some of you guys.

Connect a spark tester on one of the COP and check for spark while cranking.
If absent, proceed to testing the wires from the cam sensor to pcm for increased resistance. A repair manual is needed. Otherwise it would be a help if you had a spare key to check the transponder issue.

I have heard that some generic transponder keys have a battery. Bring yours to a locksmith to verify this.

I have read all posts on your previous thread but there is one thing you didn't do -you forgot to do a compression test. Your problem might not really be electrical in nature. To confirm, connect a noid light on one injector terminal and a spark tester on one cop simultaneously and start the truck. If there is spark immediately, then the problem is not the PATS.

Engine might have loose compression.thereby having difficulty in starting. Fuel injectors need to deliver.a richer mixture for it to start. Also check the fuel ptessure regulator. It might be stuck in the lean position. In his case anything is a possibility.

This would rule out a compression issue:
"However, if I put the key in run position, I have to wait a few minutes before it starts."

Engine isn't turning while he is waiting, compression is a mute point.

He stated fuel pressure is 44 lbs, within spec. I'm going to take that as the pressure when the pump first energizes.
