You cannot program new keys if the original pats keys are not recognized. You will likely have to take it to ford dealer. Maybe get ecu reflashed and pats keys reprogrammed.

Just for your information. I have a sct custom programmer and inadvertantly lost my stock program when it locked up once during the flash process. I had not backed it up anywhere...opps. Anyways I was able to reflash one of my custom programs as the original and it would not start due to loosing the pats code. Same symptoms as yours. I was able to turn off pats in the program and I can start it now but pats still flashes and I get check engine light due to the lost code. My only option is to have dealer install original program and reprogram my pats keys. I was quoted a little over $100 to do this.

There is the possibility is your pats system outside the ecu is malfunctioning but the dealer should be able to diagnose this.

Im sorry but I am not clear on the sequence of events. If your original keys stopped working for whatever reason new keys cannot be programmed. The original proper code has to be received before the ecu will allow a new key to be programmed. Keeps just anybody from programming their own keys to take your vehicle. If this is the case there is nothing the locksmith could do. Its possible the ecu locked out the reader in this case but not sure.

I've had this same problem before...

All I did was disconnect the battery & let it sit unconnected for about 15mins. Connected it back then started right up.

Sometimes it would randomly do this & i would just get out, walk away, then come back few minutes later & the theft would stop.

man i wish i had that luck .i did check the cig fuse and its good . i do remember i was hooking up another radio since the last one was stolen. i had the key turned to the on pos. for probably 1 hr. or more while looking the constant and ignition hot . that was it nothing shorted that i saw .so im wondering if the key being on would cause this issue.the code reader obd2 still wont connect to truck computer .i checked voltage on trucks obd2 power is there in two spots .if the obd2 isnt conecting i wonder how the lock smith was able to try and fail at program keys ? food for thought if any one can contribute or add it would be appreciated thanks again one frustrated family .
