I am getting this code on my 1999 5.4 Expedition. The plugs were changed last year by Ford and some coils that looked bad were changed. #3 was not one of the that were replaced. I just want to cofirm that #3 is on the passenger side, 3 back? How hard would it be to replace the coil myself? Looks like they are at Checkers for $42. I found some directions on it. Any tips? Thanks.

Should be very easy to remove the COP. Disconnect the connector that goes to it, disconnect the fuel injector electrical connector, and remove the bolt that holds the COP down, and pull up.

FYI, check here or here.

Depending on how many "old" ones you still have on the engine, you may want to buy a complete set, just to have as spares. As you can see, a set of 8 costs about what 2-3 would cost at Checkers or dealer.

I have a 97 EB that did the same thing but on cyl 6, changed the spark plugs and turned out that the #6 cyl COP was bad and replaced it and havent had a problem.
