I've seen a number of write-ups on this issue, with varying solutions.

I'm trying to clarify what I should try...
I have a 2009 LTD (v8).

In the last few months it has developed an issue with rough idle.

This seems to only happen when the truck is warmed up and when slowing to, or at a stop in idle.

The motor seems to sputter and run rough. Shaking noticeably. It has never died.

The issue goes away if:
You put in park and rev the engine
You give it gas and get going. It does seem to lack power when doing this until it "gets over" the issue.

I've tried to get an error code, with no luck, though I've not been able to code check soon after the issue.

Possible solutions I've seen are:
One or many bad spark plugs or coil packs
ECG valve gone bad.

You might also notice the engine vibrating a bit.

Thanks for any input.

The 09 should be the 3V.

How many miles are on it? More then likely it needs plugs. Ford claims 100k, but I think 50k is pushing it.

Not experienced on the 5.4 3V but have you cleaned the throttle body and at least see if they have the exhaust ports thru the throttle body like the 2V's

I'll start there then.

Is it normal to replace the coils with the plugs?

some do and some don't but if you don't install new coils at least install new boots and use dialect grease on the boot spring

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I plan to have the plugs and coils replaced.

I'll give feedback when completed.
