Question Brakes slow to release?

Anybody ever have any issues with your brakes slow to release if your sitting with them pressed for any extended period of time? Like at a slow drive through, or an extremely long red light?

If so, any ideas what may cause that?

how many miles on your vehicle?
when was the last time your brakes were serviced?

are you talking about the pedal returning to normal position, or the pads releasing from the rotors? does it feel like they're dragging, or are they making 'squeal/squeaking' noises? is it only one-side, front/back, or both.

have you checked your master cylinder fluid level? is the cap loose perhaps.

There's about 230,000 miles on it. I recently (within last month) changed all the brakes and rotors. Pedal is returning as expected. It does feel like the pads are not releasing all the way after being held for more than a minute or so. It's not making any squeaking noises regularly, just when I start to depress the brake you'll hear a squeak for a second then goes away as I keep the pedal depressed. I can't quite tell if it's just the front that is doing it or front and back both. I don't believe it to be just one side because while it's doing it if I let go of the wheel it doesn't pull to either side. The fluid is at the proper level and the cap seems to be on good and tight.

did you grease the slide rails and use the replacement parts that came w/ the pads?
did you use OEM pads?

sure someone else will chime in and it may just be a matter of time until you get some wear on the new rotors.

Yea I'm sure but I don't really want premature wearing at a rate that is going to destroy the rotor. I use OEM style semi-metallic pads. I greased everything up pretty good with brake grease. It just seems to me that this shouldn't be an issue. I've changed 3 vehicles brakes all within this month and none of the others are having any issues. So it's a bit weird. Thanks again.

I have seen problems as you describe ? caused by the master cylinder . Food for thought .

I was wondering that too, but also wondering if it was anything to do with vacuum as well.

You thinking the Brake Booster ? try squirting a little soapy water around ? should seal up the vacuum leak momentarily ?

Take off the calipers, remove and clean the slides, the areas where the pads touch and slide on (silver clips) and now here's the part no-one checks and does REMOVE THE RUBBER SLIDE BOOTS AND CLEAN THE RUST BUILDUP INSIDE THE CALIPERS! Put back together and use the silver anti-seize paste on the sliders and the silver clips. Do this for each wheel and you will happy that you have brakes that work like they should again! You may also want to step up to ceramic pads also for better stopping, it is a very cheap upgrade over the semi-metallic pads for better braking especially when you need to stop 6k in a hurry!
