Yep, even with nothing connected, all bulbs pulled, it drains battery. I even removed the output pins from the instrument cluster feeding the interior lights and it still draws power. Removed 12V supply for that particular circuit to the instrument cluster, pin 1 and 14 on connector C220b for those with wiring diagram, and power draw disappeared, meaning the instrument cluster is internally damaged. Now, I know many has done this successfully, so I suppose there are LEDs that are safe, and others which are not. Personally, I am gonna fix my problem and not gonna mess with LEDs for interior lights anymore, not worth the risk for me.. :)

Well, nevermind my ranting.. :p The source of my problems turned out to be a dead battery, not the instrument cluster nor the LEDs... Which actually makes more sense, just that the timing was friggin perfect for sending me on a wild goose chase.... :)

Hehe, yeah.. It all pointed towards the LEDs and the instrument cluster draining power, but apparently, it all boiled down to gremlins introduced by a failing battery.. It was really a perfect timing, replace the interior bulbs to LED one evening, come the next morning to find the truck barely starting due to a drained battery... Of course the first thing that comes to mind is the LEDs you just replaced the evening before, when everything was seemingly working perfectly... :D

Very true. Well, I just finished the install, it was fairly easy. Did the interior map/dome lights, vanity mirror lights, glove box, and the license plate. It came with puddle lights, but the tow mirrors use those stupid proprietary thing so those are still incandescent so I used one of those bulbs for the glove box since the kit didn't Include that. Overall I'm very happy with the switch. Bought the kit from Amazon for about 30 bucks. Highly recommend this upgrade.

It's not so easy to avoid assuming something was damaged when replacing something one day, then the next day finding a drained battery, and a subsequent battery drain test showing a high power drain on that very circuit that you just replaced something on. That would make any person assume something was damaged I think... :) But me being a bit stubborn, and refusing to order new parts before I'm 100% certain, plus that feeling that something really doesn't make sense in what I was seeing and what the tests were telling me paid off, and saved me from ordering parts I ultimately did not need.. :) Anyway, this is not the thread that this discussion belongs in, just wanted to clear up the mistake about LEDs causing damage, and thus discouraging others from buying LEDs...

Thank you very much Skauber for your input. I was second guessing myself until you reported back. Already loving the new look.
