also weight of oil is important. 5-30 is recommended. but thats at sea level and/or non extreme temps. you want 10-40 during the summer and 5-20 in the winter, where the extremes are. ie arizona 100+ new york 30-. thats just what ive read. could be wrong.

Damnit, I bought 10-30 & here in TN it stays 90s + usually...

yeah youll be fine with 10-30. i just read in an old magazine that this guy would switch to 5-20 in the summer months to 10-40 in the winter.

i use motorcraft 5w-20 synthetic blend. its made by ford so i cant go wrong with that. also they recomend 5w-20 for my engine so I dont think i will switch up to 10-30.

Ive always wanted to try shell rotella because of its rep with diesels but Idk about their gas engine stuff, but im going to try it

all depends on where you live like panda said i live in phx az and almost every one i know runs 10w 30 or 10w40 in any truck. these are heavy bricks with weak motors. they get a lil toasty here. my car and truck temp gauge said 113 today and summer is just starting. ford uses doesnt want to put a list of different weights for every season and every climate and or state or even region for the matter. it wouldnt fit on the oil cap lol. plus i run synthetics in every part of the truck if you are unsure of synthetic technology consider this. a: look at what your tranny fluid is b: most high end cars come with it. why would the put crap into a motor that costs atleast as much as your truck does new?
