I wonder why Ford would recommend 5w20 but put 5w30 in the owners manual.

I work for Kenworth Trucks and thats all I see is 15-40.I use 15-40 in my old f150 that has 272,000 on it.Rotella I think is your best bet in 15-40.Delo 400 is the other that is common in the heavy duty world. My f150 has a few seeping seals.I think I will go to a high mile oil with seal sweller in it.When I lived in Calif,20-50 was the oil to use.I called Quaker state on an oil question and the guy on the phone said he runs a 15-40 rotella. He had a 2001 5.4 in a f150.

It says for sure in your owners manual. Mine has the 97 HD towing package, so mine is 7 quarts. My old man's is 6 without the towing package, but that is also an 04. Just keep adding oil until it appears on the dipstick as full. Not going to be any more than 7 quarts I am sure.
