I have a '97 E.B. with a gauge problem. When I start the truck everything works fine. But after a few minutes the water temp and oil gauges go full max, the voltage gauge and the fuel gauge just kind've float up and down. They stay that way until the truck is turned off and restarted. I've checked the voltage coming through the system and it reads fine and is rock steady. Also the audio from the radio cuts out even though the radio is on. Its an aftermarket radio and I checked the audio output with a known good speaker at the radio connector and I get audio, so that problem is something to do with the amplifier. Any quick ideas? Anyone come across this before?

sounds like u have a major wiring prob...u will prob have to remove your dash and trace all wiring for speakers and radio to ensure nothing is crimped and that wires are exposed and contacting other wires or metal to short out...also for audio...the wires going through the door could be crimped there as well especially if the speakers are components so extra wires had to installed through there...
