Is there a way to shut off the key in ignition chime so I can leave my keys in and have my door open without it dinging?

You would have to add a method of interrupting the ground connection for the door switches - a switch would be the easiest.

Only if it is included. That is one of the reasons I only purchase factory OEM service manuals.

May not be what you are looking for, but Ford makes a seat belt extender that latches into the seat portion of the seat belt which will accomplish what you desire. Every time I have bought a truck, asked the parts dept. for one and they would give me one.

There are also many aftermarket extenders.

What I do is stick the hook of a bungee cord in the latch, so the door "shut".
Plus with the cord, it you'll see that it needs to be opened before shutting it
