I recently started feeling a small miss when driving my wife's 04 navi. I thought it might be bad gas because on my way home today it started running really rough. I pulled the codes and got p0358, 356, 355, 354. The check engine light never came on either. I put some heat in the tank and drove a little bit. It seemed a little better but still running pretty rough. I was reading about bad ecu's and i can't imagine 4 coils going bad within a couple days. Any ideas on where to start?

PCM, harness or ground circuit issue. Seeing that your in a salt state I would check the pcm grounds first.

Ok, the ground looks good to start. No corrosion or anything and its all tight. Now, If you keep it under 2k rpm the truck doesnt misfire. If you try to get on it a little bit then it gets really bad and tries to stall at stop signs. Just not sure its the computer or not. Can I take the computer into a dealership to get it tested?

Sure you can take it to a dealer. Whats in your wallet??????

Did you test the grounds with a dmm or just visually?

When were the spark plugs changed?
Any maintenance on the egr ports, throttle body, IAC?
How many miles on the clock?
Are the 4 "bad" coils on one side or both sides of the engine?

That's what im afraid of. I just checked it visually on the ground. Im not even sure what a dmm is. The coils are 4,5,6, and 8 and im not sure when the plugs have been changed ss well as the other maintenance. We just bought the truck a few months ago. I don't have a problem changing the plugs or doing the egr cleaning. I just thought it was strange that it all the sudden had 4 cylinders missing. I can go get some plugs on friday and start there if that's what you think. I just didnt want to throw a bunch of money at it.

Digital Multi Meter. Use only the correct motorcraft plugs. You're correct about it being weird for 4 misfires to start at once. I'd for sure inspect all the wiring and vacuum lines.

Thanks. For the life of me I could not figure out what that stood for. I will check all the vacuum lines and try to figure out how to check the ground on the computer. I would think that if I had a vacuum line broken that it wouldn't idle properly. That's whats confusing me, why it runs smooth at lower rpms .

I'm thinking that is the 3 valve head. Better do some research on the plug change. It can ruin your day if you are not prepared for the plug breakage.
