Hey fellas,
Can anyone personally vouch for a set of shorty headers that fit the 2nd generation expedition with 5.4L 2V engine? Gibson has a set (part number GP220S), but even Gibson themselves cannot definitively tell me that they will fit a 2V.

In my experience the shorties aren't worth the time to install. If the stock manifold is cracked and the headers are cheaper I'd do it. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

The pics I could find the ports look round which would be correct for the 2v heads.

im not sure about the 2v. but i installed them on my 06 5.4 3v. it was a pain in the neck. the driver side was pretty easy to install but i had to get a jack and raise the engine after removing the motor mounts about 1 inch in order to install the passenger side. mine were the stainless version. they are nice and i noticed a difference. how much and was it worth it is really up to you. i would not do this if it was the only modification to your truck. i have a K&N air filter not a CAI and i have the gibson cat back. To me it was worth it because i'm driving this truck till the wheels fall off and then find some duct tape and patch it and keep going. but if your going to be trading in your car in a couple of years not worth the investment imo. and the stainless do rust not much but they do. you'll get more performance out of a programmer way before you get the performance out of the headers for about the same price maybe even less; but where you would save money is the installation of the programmer. if you don't do the install of the headers yourself a shop will quote you anywhere from 4-8 hours at about $70-$90hr labor. something else to think about. Furthermore i believe that the engine block for all 5.4 engines are the same what changes are the heads. and since the headers attach to the heads the bolt patterns may be different.

I would definitely be installing these myself. I am a mechanic, so I get the side benefit of saving myself a boat-load of money on my automobile obsession. I am keeping this truck until forever. These Expeditions are fairly cheap to repair compared to some of the other trucks out there, especially the imports.

About the headers, if I can find out that the ones that I'm looking at do indeed fit then I am going to get them. I want to do a full exhaust upgrade on this truck. Headers, high-flow cats, cat-back system. I will also be getting a programmer in the future, as well as an electric fan kit from Troyer. I want to maximize power and efficiency on this thing.

My concern with the headers fitting isn't so much the bolt pattern for the exhaust manifold on the 2V heads I have. It's whether or not there was a change in the shape and/or contour of the Frame of the truck from the old body style to the new on the passenger side. One thing Gibson told me was that the passenger side header for the part number that I referenced was the only difference between the GP220's and the GP206's. But, I have one guy (Gibson employee) telling me that they're for the 2V (he thinks), and another Gibson employee telling me they're for the 4V (he thinks), lol. Soooo therein lies my mystery.

Edit: The 4V engine I reference is a Navigator only option BTW (I guess :33: )

I Got Them Gibson Shorty headers Ceramic Coated on my 06 5.4 3V they are awesome but I need to get a cat system and a muffler system because u cant hear them LIKE AT ALL. I tried to put them on my self F- that I took it to a truck shop the driver side was put in with in 30 mins but the passenger it took them 7 hours to do it. they had to take the wheel off the wheel, well shroud off, they had to drop the AC Compressor. I'm saving up to buy the full MagnaFlow system to add to it the cats all the way back.....I like them no complaints.

I'm going to get the MagnaFlow cats since I've done everything else for the exhaust except replace the cats. When i installed the headers years ago i could not find a cat replacement. But now that i know where to get them i will eventually get them.

magnaflow has the direct fit for your model expedition I read that you get like 1-14HPs just by putting them on.
