When I dropped the ATF pan, I found a yellow plastic plug with an O ring on it in the bottom of the pan. Can someone tell me where it goes?

You have a picture? It might just be the plug from original install for the dipstick.

That's from when the transmission was installed, also means that this is the first time the pan was dropped.

It's intended purpose was to plug the hole that the dipstick tube goes into until it gets pushed in upon initial installation at the factory. It's unintended purpose is to cause anxiety and concern. It resides in the pan until the finder of it chucks it into the trash as soon as their heart rate returns to normal.

Skip all prior steps and go directly to the chucking it in the trash part.
