I'm wondering if anyone knows of a turbocharger of supercharger for a 2000 Ford Expedition that is fairly easy & quick to install (i.e. don't have to cut a hole in the hood), and is reasonably priced (under $500 preferred).

Is there a "universal" turbo/supercharger that might work that anyone has tried in their Expedition?

Thanks.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I understand these responses. If you type in "universal turbocharger" on ebay there are tons around the $500 mark that include an intercooler & piping:

Are these all bad turbos for a 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4? Several are from JDM, which I thought was a decent brand.

Your best bet for that price point is a tuner since turbo's are not cheap by any means. If you want to add a turbo the engine should be upgraded to handle the additional power that could be produced when done correctly.

Check out a member on here, toms89, for his blown expy and what he did to the motor. There are a few youtube vids also on his beast.

Back when I was buying parts for the school bus shop a reman turbo was around $2500. So $500 isn't going to get much.

One does not simply add a turbo or supercharger to a computerized engine...
The simplest option is to find a wrecking yard Lightning truck and yard the SC off of it. But I would expect the wrecking yard to want to sell the engine complete.
If you did get a used SC, how do you plan on reprogramming the computer? You would surely need a custom tune to make the thing even run. Unless you bought the ECU out of the lightning truck too.
Were you planning any bottom end work to your existing engine? A stock bottom end is usually a time bomb when adding a turbo or SC.
There have been several threads regarding turbos on Expies. The general consensus is there is not enough room in the engine bay to add one.

Biggest question, what are you trying to accomplish? Moar HP? Something different? Faster 1/4 mile times? Quicker trips to and from the Deschutes Brewery? :)

For $500 you wouldn't even be able to get a good dyno tune.

PIPE DREAM!!! ****!
