Its a Crime Stopper SV-6818.EM.II
Cost $31 dollars from sonic electronics.

Installed it along the stock wiring harness to the license plate lights.

I know this is an older thread--but, there isn't much info on how to wire these reverse cameras.

What path did you use to run the wires from the rubber grommet between the tail gate/body to the front of the truck? Did you just fish it along above the head liner? Or, above the doors?

Thanks,
Chris

I ran mine through the plastic running on the Driver's side. It was by far the easiest route. Plenty of space to get my hands in there and run the cable.

Is there a way to hook up a backup camera to the factory Navi head unit? There was a device on our old X5 that sensed power from the reverse lights and automatically turned the head unit to an aux in.

depends what year you have. loc pics seem to be the easiet. I have an 07 and they only seem to go back to 09 w the loc pics. 5 yr rolling manufacture cycle maybe? I found this w more than a couple suppliers.

I had to go w navtool. had to remove head unit and ship it to them for internal mods. they ship it back and then u install. comes back w a small box wired to it w 2 ground leads ( 1 is for parking brake), 1 12v accessory power lead, 12v reverse power lead, and another for a push button toggle switch(like a valet switch) to switch between vid 1, vid 2, and factory screens. vid 1 can b a forward cam or dvd in. I just got mine back and am prepping for the install. also got a factory looking cam from rearviewsafety.com it replaces the driver side license plate light but includes a light and camera in 1 small housing. that comes in tomorrow.

I have been searching posts for where to find accessory power to bring to the head unit and reverse as well. easiest?

My 2006, new to me...came with a DUAL Stereo, touch screen and a bckup camera over the license plate. The camera is not working though the reverse sensor is ..
what should I troubleshoot? The power hook up? Seems like it goes up through the tailgate somewhere.
