Hi,

I'm upgrading my expy from a 4 wire to a 7 wire trailer tow connector.

Two wires need to be added to the male side of connector C139 (as seen on page 150-8 of the 'Wiring Diagrams 2007 Expedition, Navigator' reference.

Inside the connector, the male connectors are little flat blades, and the two blades in position 5 and 2 ae not there, though holes in the plastic are for them.

Does Ford sell the blades separately in a repair kit, or can I source them from somewhere else? This connector looks to be one that the connectors click into, so if I get the blades, the rest of the mod is just running the wires.

Let me know if you have a direction for me to look, and thanks!

PS: This is my first post, but my third Expy! :banana-mario:

Welcome to the site.
Some dealers will have the connectors you are looking for while others are clueless. With a little searching you can source them on the internet. For a small quantity it is usually easier to grab a section of harness with the plug from a junkyard. I will recommend getting the tool to remove the connectors from the plug so that they aren't damaged. They really make life easier not having to fight a little black plastic connector that doesn't co-operate.

Thanks, I was afraid that that would be the case. Have been going to an independent shop, but he was in the clueless column. Capistrano Ford is about 5 miles from my home, going to stop by there and see if they have their head on straight.

I worked in GM and VW dealers growing up in parts, and there was always one master tech that really knew his stuff. So if I can get them involved, I should be able to get this done.

If not, as you said, there is always the junk yard. Which may in fact be a better option.

Thanks Again!

No joy @ the dealer

Hi,

I'm adding two more wires for backup and battery charge for my 7 pole trailer hitch. To do this, I have to continue two wires that go into the rear loom at the connector for the loom that reaches to the hitch. I've identified the wires and that they go into the connector, but there is no pin forthem on the other half of the connector. I need to source the pins so I can attach wires to them, and have them connect through the connector for a nice clean installation.

Unfortunately, my local ford dealer tells me that the pins are not for sale to the public, but I could bring my truck in for service and they can do it. Since I'm no stranger to this kind of work, I'm looking to see if someone can direct me to a source for the pins so I can connect wires to them and finish this myself.

If you can direct me to a source for the pins - they are the larger ones at the top of the photo, I'd be grateful.

I can get a connector from a junkyard if need be, but would rather just order new pins - will be less trouble and cheaper.

OK, got the connector from a great junkyard Saturday. Astro Auto Wrecking in Long Beach, CA had a 2015 that was hit hard in the front and I got the connector from an earlier Navi that was next to it.

Anyone actually disassemble one of these things?

I got the rear hitch and rear wire loom, as well as stock audiophile speakers to undo the crap work the radio boy prior owner did. Got to crawl around the junkyard and get dirty. It was a big scoring day!

Got them! The connectors are weather pak, and pull out if you put firm pressure on them

The other sized connectors are different mounting, so will not respond the same way.

D-U-N Done! new wires going through the factory connector, through the loom, to the 2015 Expy hitch and 4 + 7 pin connectors. All circuits tested and perfect on the first pass. Installation is a true no excuses setup, and the next owner and shop may never know it did not come from the factory this way. :)
