If you didn't have any blown fuses before the conversion, then you should be alright. If you disconnected the compressor, then you should be able to turn the system back on and your steering should improve.

So turn on the switch near the floorboard to reactivate the system. I didn't disconnect the compressor, but did disconnect the relay by the front fender. Will that o or should I reconnect the relay and disconnect the compressor? How do you disconnect the compressor? Thanks for the help!

I think the instructions call for disconnecting the compressor, but if the relay is disabled, the compressor may be as well. Since I didn't do the installation myself, I don't have the instructions any more. I'm wondering if the relay needs to remain active, but the compressor power lead has to be disconnected to make the system think everything else is ok.

I just purchased a 99 that already had the conversion done. I am towing a 4500# trailer. The suspension feels very soft. The rear seems to squat quite a bit when I hook up the trailer. Are the coils softer than the original? Is there something I should do to stiffen the suspension because I'm towing?

I ordered the premium strutmasters coil conversion kit. That cost me under $700. It is riding smooth. For $200 they can send you a part to get rid of the air ride error message. Not sure it is worth doing yet. Still need a remote start and updated entertainment system in my 2003 Expedition EB.

Hey guys, I just got a 98 Expedition EB 2WD 5.4L ($FREE). The airbags are shot. Does everything I need come in the Monroe 90005 kit? I don't need any other brackets or anything so the springs will fit? The pic of the kit looks awfully simple.

Thanks everyone, this site is a great resource.

Hey guys I have a 98 4x4 expedition EB with the 4 corner air suspension. At the moment it's still working but is it worth the money to do the suspension swap to get rid of the air suspension? I was looking at the kits and it got me thinking of swaping it out and not having to deal with air bags and compressors

yes its worth it...u eliminate all the components that CAN fail and more than likely WILL fail...i wouldnt do it until something goes wrong though unless ur like some of the guys that can diagnose whats wrong and fix it on their own...i bought suncore system for less than $400...put on for $250...WAY less than the $1500-$1700 quote i recieved...but i had major components that failed...now all i have to worry about is replacing shocks

If you make the decision to switch over anyway, order the kit (suncore or whichever) and have it ready to install for when the system fails beyond what you are willing to spend to keep it. Then you're ready, and if you're lucky, you'll never install them and they'll sell with the vehicle or at worst, you'll have them for sale on this site. :smoke2:

I just rebuilt the air dryer and replaced the vibe mounts on my KR last week. Like my power running boards, if you keep up with preventative maintenance, they aren't that expensive to keep. I've driven and pulled with non air Expy Limited's and I'll be keeping my air as long it's remotely feasible.

People come to this site for all kinds of reasons, most of them being troubles with their Expy, including air suspension. Almost all here will tell you to replace it all. Don't just take the advice without knowing that there thousands of Expy's out there running around without any issues.

Good luck.
