Can someone explain body lift vs suspension lift?

I'm new to the 4wd scene, and want to learn. I'm not going to buy a 100$ eBay kit either, I use my Expy to haul kids, so I want it done right. If the answer to my question is too long, links would be great.

It is my understanding that body lift uses spacers to lift shell of the truck...u dont touch anything else with the truck for clearance....the suspension lift is just that...your increasing the lift by replacing suspension parts to raise the frame of the truck higher...more costly as well with replacing parts and labor...could be thousands of dollars depending on how high the lift is...parts alone...body lift...a few hundred dollars

keep in mind that the ultimate purpose of any lift is either to gain ground clearance (at the lowest point, i.e., the differential), or simply appearance.
if it's for more ground clearance, then the whole point is to allow taller tires to gain more ground clearance.
