Front end annoying clunking noise

man mkc that sux... ive been folowing this thread since you started it because i have the same problem. was hoping for a "yay i fixed it" by now.lol. mine clunks on both driver and passenger sides. my brother ( who is pretty handy ) said it might be the struts. i can hear them compress (gas/ air sound) and working over speed bumps but the rear is nice and quiet. maybe he's right?

Not struts here. I had to change mine out due to bad air ride. However, due to my strut change (going from air to coilover) it appears that now my Front camber is way out of wack. I think I am going to go ahead and replace the front lower control arm bushings while dealing with the camber situation. That is the only part of the entire front end I did not replace prior. If it still clunks after that I'll just learn to live with it. Tired of chasing ghosts.

well I didnt use that brand, BUT I did replace using MOOG and that is usually one of the top end suspension brands. And yes I tightened them extremely tight. The part# you reference is not for a 2006 expedition. When I went to energy suspensions web page here is what I see for a 2006.

Notice in the link who ES says makes the unit they sell for a 2006 (MOOG). Just so happens to be the exact part # I installed but obtained for $28 at rock auto.

Haven't had any deep sounding "clunk" noises out of my 2000EB, but I sure had one heck of an annoying "clinking" sound going over bumps till I found out what it was. Had to replace the stabilizer bar bushings where they attach by the coil spring. There are two other "U" shaped bushings that the stabilizer bar runs through. Have you checked those for wear? I attached a pic for those that may be following the thread and want to see what I had to replace. (Bright blue bushings, washers, bolts and nuts). Truck handles MUCH better, and no more "clinking" sound since I replaced them.

Hit all front end components with a rubber mallet while jacked up & unloaded. If nothing is found I would suspect the control arm bushings even though they "looked" fine.
While underneath check all body mounts also.

the 2006 does not have links like in your picture. the ones it has are like the picture I Posted earlier in this thread.
Stamp. Trust me have done all of that. HAve checked anything beneath the truck that is mounted and bolted on. Body mounts/door hinged/running board mounts, you name it, ive checked it. All checked with a torque wrench. Truck was aligned today. guy that has done all my alignment work for over 25 years also checked over the entire front end while on the rack. INcluding trying to make the lower control arm move or flex in any way. Nothing. Alignment is back to factory spec. Then we took it for the test drive, He to was also able to hear the noise. Once again we put back on rack and we both checked everything possible in the front end. Still nothing to be found.
The only thing he thought I could check but it would have to be removed to do so. The front 4x4 drive axle. The small cv axle. Maybe there could be some slack in that that is popping as the suspension moves. Maybe one day soon I will pull it and see. Just dont know anything else to check and entire front end is new.

Anyone ever replace a sway bar bushing,or hear of any going bad. Meaning the bushing that holds the sway bar to the chassis?
Friend of mine mentioned a jeep he had giving a knocking noise, and the sway bar mounting bushings had gotten worn to a point that you could not see it during any sort of prying or pushing, but under heavy stress the bar would slap the bushing mount/cover and create a knocking noise. Think when back off of my upcoming trip will pull one to inspect the rubber integrity. If worn maybe replace with the more modern Poly type.
