Yes its suppose to light up and no its pretty simple.....the trim ring around your radio and heat controls snaps off...the you will have a quick disconnect for the the 4x4 control...then there are 4 hex head screw that hold the heat controls in place...remove those and pull the controls gently toward you...there are plastic hoses and wires attached...the is I believe a blue wire and a black wire that leads to the the bulb...the bulb is a 194 and can get at any part store....
