Just change the plugs and coil packs in my 2000 expedition last night. When I pulled the boots on 3 of the plugs and pulled the socket out with the old plug on it the socket was covered in oil. Only 3 of the cylinders looked like this. Put everything back together and runs fine just wondering where this oil would come from. Any ideas? Thanks

Oil in Plug Holes

What motor are you working on?
Could be several things:
(1) Oil spillage when changing oil. Oil that gets spilled on to the valve cover and the intake can seep into the plug holes.
(2) Valve Cover gasket: If gasket on the valve cover is leaking on the intake side, oil can seep into the plug holes.

I just fix the same problem on my 2000 Expedition by replacing the valve cover gaskets. It was a real pain in the azz!
