Weird question! I had my tranny rebuilt by a friend/shop and now my tranny is acting different then my last one like it now has a delay now going in reverse, shifts earlier then my other one and it has a small leak now. upon checking my fluid (I do know how to check it) it was way past the "do not add". My dip stick also looks like this.
Add|||||Cold||||Hot|||||Do Not Add
so I went and bought a suck pump to remove some of the ATF and ended up pulling about 2Q out and it now is in the top of the "do not add" part of my dip stick. Is that ok or should I bring it down to th Hot section?

Thanks
Justin

Hot is for when the fluid is up to temp. Don't go above the hot line.
Cold is for fluid that has cooled down after a few hours of running and is equal to the outside temp. Do not go over the cold mark in this case.

Thanks for the reply!
I forgot to mention I got the E40D. I figured that was the case. I actually only pulled out a quart 1/2. I now got it to the top of the hot line. I called my friend earlier today and he told me it wouldn't hurt my tranny to over fill it but i call BS. It has been over filled since he rebuilt it back in April. Hope my transmission is OK.....

They will tolerate a slight overfill but not in quarts. And besides, specifications are specifications, they should be followed.

I drove it around today and it seems to be driving well. Iv had a slight vibration at 45-55mph that iv been tring to figure out which started the same time i got my tranny rebuilt. In that same week I also got new tires, put my headers on, put aims oil in front/rear diffs and transfer case so I wasn't sure what was causing it. I even pulled out my drive shafts to see if it was them but they seemed to be OK. Anyways, The vibration seem to have gone away since I drained the excess ATF out. Im not tottle sure this caused the vibration but it seems to be better now.
