good afternoon,

i have a 2007 expedition with a leather steering wheel that is showing its age.
can it be reconditioned to "like new"?
an aftermarket wrap is not what i'm looking for-factory new would be nice.
thought please and thank you.

You might try contacting an upholstery shop & see if they have any ideas. Also, I believe you can buy an entire new steering wheel and have it installed.

New one is the route I'd take. Expect to pay close to $300. No need to purchase new cruise and radio buttons - reuse the ones you have. If you understand how and when airbags work, you can DIY the swap in your driveway. If you are living in the 90's and think an airbag will go off at any moment, take it to any paint & body shop and pay them $50 to $100 to do the swap. There are usually a few on ebay used, but who is to say the sun hasn't started taking a toll on those already. I'd pass on used.

Now would be a good time to get a layer of clear film "tint" applied to your windshield. To block UV-a and UV-b rays, radiant and infrared heat, as well as glare. All of your interior leather and plastics will last much longer. And your skin will thank you. 3M makes a product called Crystalline, Llumar calls theirs AIR. I have Johnson's tint, think they just call it clear. All of are the same quality. Expect to pay another $100 to $150 for the windshield.
