Water spots UGH!

What I have found out about water spots will make you crazy trying to get rid of them.
I was told they are mineral deposits left when the water evaporates from your car's surface. I asked a local detailer where I get my cras detailed and he told and showed me his answer to washing a car and letting it dry without water spots. A 6 grand reverse osmosis water unit to rinse the cars off with after washing them.
To keep it spot free, wax your butt off, he uses Maguire's, (his preference), and then when it rains try to wipe it down, (damp towel it), to get the excess water off! The extra wax helps, I try to keep my cars waxed and clean and use a dust mop thats hand held to keep the dust off before I get around to giving it a bath. Go to Autogeek.org The Original California™ Duster for 24.99. If its dusty, just driving on local roads, forget when you have to go thru construction.
Just my own experience with trying to fend off water spots. My wife's car stays in the garage and only comes out on sunny days unless it has to. I found it cuts my work in half!

Haven't had that problem for a while but vinegar on a microfiber towel or wax applicator sponge always worked well for me, on paint and on windshield water spots

use a jewelers loop. what you might very well have are what is known as acid rain spots. Living in an industrial area you will get that. sometimes they are nothing more then hard water spots, or if you used too much car soap. There are products out there to remove hard water spots. But if you have acid rain spots, you can tell by using a jewelers loop or good magnifying glass. You will see the primer. Sometimes the only solution is body shop to sand and repaint.

I feel for you. I have well-water so I have a water softener and the salt that;s left is really bad. I just bought a 200' "magic hose" and last weekend, I connected it directly to my Welltrol tank before the softener and it worked perfectly...no salt residue!

Black is the most difficult color to keep clean but to me, it's also looks the best!

bon ami or barkeepers friend will spruce up your glass.

I've owned a ton of cars and have tried a lot of ways to get a spot free rinse to prevent water spots. I've also washed at night, during rainfall, and in the shade. I love washing during a good rain (non lightning) because it usually leaves a spot free rinse, but what I've been doing lately that works absolutely perfect, is this:
Buy a garden sprayer, (2-5 gallon), then buy several gallons of distilled water...and just distilled water. Don't buy the purified water with "taste enhancing minerals added". Fill the sprayed with your distilled water, pump it up and have it ready to go after a wash. Rinse car with hose, and then rinse generously with your distilled water sprayer. I go through about two-three gallons rinsing my EL. Rinse and rinse again. You want to basically replace the hose water with the distilled water so if it's pooling anywhere or gathering in door seams, door handles, hatch seams/drains be sure to flood those areas with the distilled water and I promise you you'll have a spot free rinse for literally the cost of a few 89 cent gallons of water. I've done this a bunch of times and it works.
