Naw, 2500 for repairing it. When I had told my dad that, he told me to tell them to put it back together, fill it with oil, and take it somewhere else.

But, when I told the dealer that, he told it would be 1500 total to just put it back together, without repairing anything (500 to take it off, 1000 to put it back together) plus whatever the cost of getting a new tie rod, since it had broken from "how rusted it was" when they took it off.

I already told them to keep all the parts. I'll take a pic of them. Then again, nothing is stopping him from just getting some other car's parts and putting those there.

I already told them to go ahead with it, it'll be done Friday afternoon. I should have just gone ahead and told them to put some 4.10s in there. I mean, might as well. At least it comes with a 1 yr/12000 mile warranty.

That's what my dad said. The shop I called said it would be possible if the differential had been in water for a bit.

Got the Expy at 9k miles, 2 years old. Maybe it happened then?

I think I have a 3.73 or something like that.

It was just a thought, since everyone always says gears are the second most "feelable" mod, after forced induction. Then again, with gas prices rising up in the summer, I don't think I need something that could increase fuel consumption. :D

Woot! Got my car back! I was starting to get depressed. :D

Anyways, got back the parts they they changed out, and....I'm really not seeing this rust he was talking about. I mean one does have plenty of rust on it, but everything else seems OK. Then again, I'm not a differential expert.

Here's some pix of what I got back.

The entire contents.

Really the only rusted piece I could find.

Sensor?

I'm guessing this is the tie rod?

Don't know what this piece is, but they didn't tell me this broke as well.

Close up of the breaking point of above piece. Looks like they beat it with a hammer?

man that sucks.... it looks like you may have had some water in the diff and it caused the bearings to get pitted.....

That sucks and I hate the ford dealership because they probably didn't have to replace anything but the bearing but the replaced everything so they could give you a warranty.... I don't like the whole "replace everything" mentality of the stealership...

What they beat looks like your pinion gear.(Damn that must have been stuck) The pinion gear is what connects the drive shaft yoke to the differential.
