sgunes, you can still get up to 150,000 miles but it is now $5,340. This is the PremiumCARE warranty and it covers everything bumper to bumper except wear items unless they fail because of defects in manufacture. I don't drive that much so the 100,000 mile warranty should last me through the 8th year. There are aftermarket warranties that might provide longer coverage but I haven't explored any of them. I'm hoping to keep my 17 at least 10 years or until they come up with a better design than the 18. :)

I was wondering about an '18 as well. I bought the '17 Limited instead and glad I did. My reasoning was knowing the '17 has been produced for 3 model years with the 3.5 TT and is top of the curve for getting bugs worked out. The '18, having aluminum skin and redesigned features, will most likely have bugs to work out.

Consumer Report puts the 15-17 Expedition in top rating and I agree with the very nice ride I have. Build quality of my '17 is tops.

My humble opinion is to go with the '17.

You know what convinced me Nev? I googled " problems with 2016 Expedition" & "problems with 2017 Expeditions" and read those "reports" showing multiple pages of ZERO issues.

Then I came back to this forum I had joined a couple years ago and read through page after page after page of no issues with the 15-17 models.

Forums are a great indicator because people will always go to a forum and list their problems looking for help.....and there were simply zero issues labeled as being for the 15-17 models.

That all convinced me to buy my 3rd.

I understand that DL and some others want the '18 and maybe waiting works with their family timetable for replacing what they are driving now but in my case, my truck had died. I hadn't paid much for it and sure wasn't going to make a "boat"(hole in the water to throw money into) out of it so I HAD to replace it. My only decision was to buy another used one or a new one. It took me weeks to get behind the idea of having a payment again after nearly 10 years without one.

I hope that when DL and the others get their new '18's, they run perfectly for years & years for them....who could want less for someone? They will gain the advantage of having the newest rendition of the 3.5 along with the 10spd tranny and the added tech....hopefully the price will remain or at least not move too much higher but I still love my '17 so really, there are no wrong decisions, at least to me.

dlcorbett, Years ago I worked for York International (York Heating and Air Conditioning) in the marketing department. We wanted to the Good Housekeeping seal of approval. We contacted the good folks at Good Housekeeping and if we advertised 6 full page ads in their magazine they would award us with the seal. It was interesting how that worked and it has colored the way I see all of those other "awards"ever since then.

Yup DL I agree and I think that Andy has hit the nail on the head. I see it all the time in the bike mags that I get. For instance, in the same issue that Honda buys a multi-page spread announcing the sale of the Africa Twin in the US (has been for sale overseas for many yrs) They "test" it alone and against some much better bikes but "amazingly" the Honda wins. Of course the Honda only makes the same power (92HP) as my 10 year old, $7,400(OTD) Suzuki Vstrom 1000 yet costs DOUBLE but it "beat" the much better-built and massively more powerful KTM(155HP) but guess who didn't have any advertizing space in the magazine? Yup, No KTM ad's!!

Not much different from awards at Yelp or Angie's List.

Has anyone seen the Chevy "Real People" JD Powers Commercial Spoof? It's very funny.

My baby HATES those commercials....she believes that they are trying to portray the people as a single group when in fact they are rotating the people in each film "take" of each commercial.

So OF COURSE I copied and sent her the link..........thanks for posting Sgunes!

You are welcome, Jeff.
Those "Real People" commercials with the easily impressed hipsters are universally even more despised than Chevy itself.

Did you see the one about the Chevy Malibu? Just as funny!
