My son decided to open the door while I was pulling into the carport. Rear passenger door now has some paint transfer from one of the supports.

Any suggestions for the best way to remove?

Thank goodness he pulled the door back in almost immediately and there are no dents.

Acetone on a rag, gently Then rinse with water to remove any traces of the acetone once the offending paint is removed.

I was concerned acetone or anything else that harsh would damage the finish. The door rubbed on a drain pipe that was spray painted white at some point before I purchased the place.

You might even try isopropyl or denatured alcohol. If the transfer is fresh, it could lift it.

If concerned about paint damage, just apply some of your wax, and lightly buff...... might work without additional investment

Acetone should not damage the vehicle paint: https://www.ehow.com/how_4923030_use-acetone-remove-paint.html

Using wax is a good idea - start with the least abrasive and harsh method to remove the paint.

Meguiar’s has several excellent products such as cleaner wax and a hand polish that works very well (I don’t work for them - I buy their products.....)

You can also try rubbing compound applied by hand, but be sure to polish and wax the area afterwards.
