Need wwire digram for 05 Expedition factory overhead DVD. I have put in an aftermarket head unit, amp and sub and need to power the DVD player. I lost the RSE audio functions which I don't care about but need to know the wire schema to power the DVD player.

That's some good info. I'm going to copy it to this site in case that link/site goes bad in the future.

"MOST OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL WORK FOR A LOT OF NEWER FORDS, BUT THE VEHICLE FOR THE EXAMPLE IS A 2004 FORD EXPEDITION! USE ALL INFO AT YOUR OWN RISK I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ERRORS OR DAMAGES!

The truck in question was a 2004 Ford Expedition w/ factory 6 disc in dash, factory overhead tv, and factory subwoofer in the rear. Once you remove the factory radio, the tv and sub no longer function. Here's the tips on how to change out the factory radio and retain the rest. In this case we were adding a unit with navigation. First off at the back of the radio are the 24 pin main radio connector, a 16 or 20ish pin connector for the tv, and an 8 pin connector for the subwoofer. All connections are done at the back of the radio. "

- Connecting RCA ends as suggested is just asking for noise. Keep some noise filters on hand and use as needed if you experience noise.

- Unfortunately the truck didn't have the factory headphones in the truck for me to test. I'm not sure if they worked correctly or needed some extra wiring modifications.

The audio from the factory DVD player goes from the overhead DVD, to the in-dash radio, to the rear audio control panel, and then back up to the DVD player. Once you remove the factory radio the OEM headphones will no longer function. All you do is remove the factory overhead dvd, and jump the output audio wires to the input audio wires and your headphones will function again. The pins are as follows:

Pin 7: Left Input (+) Red
Pin 17: Left Input (-) White
Pin 5: Left Output (+) White
Pin 15: Left Output (-) Green
Pin 8: Right Input (+) Orange
Pin 18: Right Input (-) Pink
Pin 6: Right Output (+) Red
Pin 16: Right Output (-) Black

So you would jump the pins as follows:

Pin 7 to Pin 5
Pin 17 to Pin 15
Pin 8 to Pin 6
Pin 18 to Pin 16

As mentioned these connections are made @ the overhead DVD player itself, NOT at the back of the OEM radio!

QUOTE
Anyone know where and what color the reverse wire is for the 2004 Expedition? I want to use it to turn on the camera when I backup on my Alpine IVA-D901. Also can I use the same wire to connect to the mute wire so that I can hear the backup sensor speaker which is in the rear of the truck?

Black/Pink (+) In the drivers kick panel/door sill harness coming from the rear. I believe the mute wire wants to see a negative, so I wouldn't recommend connecting that to the reverse wire without using a relay to change the polarity.

Hey smo0othride, can you repost the pictures above so I can access them. I am looking for the wiring diagram (pinouts) of the factory harness above the dvd player. I just installed a Kenwood DNX-5140 and I want to wire up the screen to run off the new head unit. Thanks.
