Just purchased a 2000 4x4 Expedition and wanted to install new plugs (85,000 miles on odometer). Any suggestions on the best ones for daily driving, some trailer towing?
thanks

i would just stay with the correct motorcraft plugs and well you are at it you might want to replace your oxygen sensors and maybe get a cold air intake are atleast a k&n filter. i got the same truck as you and i am getting ready to do the plugs on it too.

I hadn't thought of replacing the 0-2 sensor. I have installed the K&N FIPK intake system, and I was going to bolt on a Trans-Dapt "torque curve" throttle body spacer this afternoon. What I didn't want to do was buy 'plugs for it and then find out later that the time and money spent was on the wrong application. Thanks!

O2 sensors wear over time, I replace mine every 40K which may be a bit of overkill...but the A/F mix is too important to skimp a few bucks.

A t-body spacer is a waste of dough for sure. Unless you have a carburetor, spacers are worthless.

If those are the original plugs they are likely pretty close to the end of teir life anyways.

Use the OE plugs and make sure you replacethe coil boots, too, while you are in there. If you are doing this yourself, use alot of care and patience on the rear ones, especially on the right side. It's a bear!!! You'll want to blow away any accumulated trash/debris before you pull those plugs. I also recommend using a small dab of anti-sieze on the threads. Have fun! :)

p.s. You don't need to replace the O2 sensors unless they are acting up. That will set a CEL. If you want to do something proactive with them and the rest of you fuel system add some BG 44K to the fuel tank (you'll need 2 cans on a full tank, or 1 can at 1/2 tank). Trust me. It works.:D click here: BG 44K

Believe it or not, O2 sensors wear over time and their performance may diminish without throwing a code.

Granted, my setup is sensitive to A/F ratio control, but I've had a wonky A/F mix in the past that was attributable to worn O2 sensors, and I never got a code.

Okay.....the 02 sensors can get 'fuzzy' and not throw a code. Since there are four (4) sensors; two pre-cat and two after-cat; and since they're not exactly cheap ($50.00 ea. @ NAPA; $100.00 ea. @ FORD) which ones should get swapped out first?

Don't worry about the rear sensors. They work or they don't and only tell the ECU if your cats are working/present. The front ones are used for A/F-ratio control.

I'm still on my original rears.
