I love my cars...The classics especially! I'm a Ford girl all the way! My Daddy was a mechanic and it's a talent that runs in our bloodline. Every time I went to my dad to help me fix a car, he got out his lawn chair and kicked his feet up on a bucket and instructed me on what to do and I fixed my car myself! When I was little I spent many quiet hours on test drives to listen for the rattles, squeaks, pings and shakes that weren't supposed to be there. I definitely have an ear for a motor saying it's sick and diagnosing what's wrong. I'm not a know it all and I ask a lot of questions and want to know why. I don't have my Daddy here to help me these days. So I have turned to asking knowledgeable people in online forums and researching the internet to find my answers. Finding an affordable grease monkey that I can trust to do the job right is a different story these days! I wish more than anything in the world, #1 my Daddy to be alive and #2 my back to be in good shape again so I could fix it myself! However, I enjoy walking into a shop to drop off my vehicle for service and allowing the mechanic to think I don't know anything about cars and then giving them the shock of a lifetime by telling them what's wrong with someone else's car they're working on. Then just so they don't forget me, as I'm about to leave have an opportunity to tell them the year make and model of another car. Ask if the used an 8 point or a 12 point socket when they broke that bolt! That will get the work for free! At that point they know they better fix the problem with my vehicle and not try to pull one over on me by telling me it's something like a muffler bearing that needs to be fixed and that it's gonna cost me $1200 more! Gentlemen, just because I'm a girl, that doesn't mean I'm stupid! I will have a used car salesman running away with his tail between his legs before he has a chance to ask if I want to take it for a test drive! Just a fun hobby of mine!
