Transmission overfill consequences? 4R100 on '01 EB 4x4, 5.4L
Could the Torque Converter have overfilled but not drained when the 4R100 overfill was fixed? I've been reading about the Brown Wire Mod and wondered if this issue could relate to A4WD.- Brian Meek

I've just done some research on the BWM and found conflicting reports of 4H & 4L working with BWM switched off. Yeah. I imagine more and more of the local parts store’s business is for the oversight items of online shoppers. I guess I was lucky then with my parking brakes. Also, I’ve had the good fortune of only having worked on California cars.- Brian Meek

Interesting. While replacing the rear rotors and pads, I cleaned and lubed the calipers and noted that at least the exposed portion of the piston, that pushes on the pad, is metal. Amen. Actually, the vacuum brake bleeding method didn't work all that well for me... You see, the bleeder valves on brake calipers aren't designed to be entirely airtight when loosened, so they let bubbles into the stream of brake fluid you're pulling out of the system. Thanks for the response, @zfifty! I gave my open-ended question here about refilling a mostly-drained brake system a bit more thought and concluded I'm over thinking it. I'll add more fluid and bleed out more air... so what? Just bleed the damn brakes! I recall doing the tubing & plastic...- Brian Meek

Confirmation of transmission diagnosis (98 Expedition EB 4x4 5.4)
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm confused about this post. The OP described his 98 Expedition as an EB 5.4L 4x4. I have a 2001 EB 5.4l 4x4 with the 4R100, and it calls for MERCON - NOT MERCON V.
