It's the transfer case... I had the truck up in the air and I dropped the trans pan and took the valve body out to inspect accumulator springs and shift valves.
I did find my 1-2 shift valve getting hung up inside the bore.. I fixed it and placed the valve body back in and 8 - 9 quarts of...
Just got it on jackstands and a lot of things are not making sense to me.
My next step is to drain the trans and pull the cover off and inspect the valve body.
When I have it in the air, the back wheels are hard to turn when the trans is in Neutral. When the trans is placed in {D}, the...
Thanks everyone for the very helpful insight. I was able to go to where my truck is parked (it broke down few blocks from my uncle's house, and had it put there since it was the closest)
I did some one man diagnosing and I took the electric shift motor off and put it in 2wd. I took it around...
Yep, and I was hoping maybe that was the case to minimize diagnosing the problem.. It's full and a good deep pink color. Does not smell burnt and no codes in the PCM (no p700 codes).
I looked up on Identifix and saw a few cases where "no movement" in reverse or forward was a transfer case...
I was driving about 25 - 30mph and went to pass a vehicle to get through a narrow lane and upon hitting the gas to go maybe an additional 8mph (850rpm to 1500rpm) the truck acted like the transmission was placed into neutral.
The engine revved and nothing happened. The truck was in [D] and...
I had a similar issue and found the vacuum pressure that puts it back into 2wd from 4AWD (and not 4hi and 4lo which requires physical movement in the transfer case motor) was insufficient.
Either the vacuum operated shift fork was stuck and engine vacuum couldn't over come it's resistance to go...

Forscan is an excellent program and I highly recommend it everywhere for Ford vehicles (in short of a high dollar scan tool)
Sometimes the misfire occurring due to a faulty coil will not trigger the check engine light, nor will it be recorded in the "High Byte" misfire counters..
These are...
As the title says, would anyone be interested in learning how to access the misfire counters?
All is needed to access the counters is Torque and a Elm obd device.
The way I access it isnt pretty but works in a pinch to find a culprit cylinder misfire that does not trigger the p03XX codes...
If you have a Bluetooth capable laptop, you could try Forscan, which I is free and would read the suspension codes.
For android, you could use OBD Car Guage Pro to connect to the suspension module to read it as well.

Using the 4x4 functions on dry pavement could cause transfer case binding and that "hopping" and "dragging" feeling. You could damage 4x4 components if continually engaging and 4x4'ing on non slippery surfaces.
Try testing on a more slippery surface.
Thanks for the link. I re-watched for a refresher and I'm going back out tomorrow with my game face. Underneath the truck so damn rusty and corroded, and Im dreading to remove the starter..
I was able to cut the nuts off two of the studs with a dremel, but at the same time, there is absolutely...
