    1999-2002 Rusted TRAILING ARMS

did all of mine a few months ago. not mechanically difficult, just nuts n bolts, but due to rust/age, physically challenging. resorted to sawzall and a torch for a few of the bolts.

What did you do to your expedition today?

Ball joint ~ ugh Failed inspection for driver's ball joint. Soooo...took a "balmy" 35 degree day with a bro and took it on. Dear lord. Not as bad as removing the control arms was, but the goof who owned before me (or his/her goof mech) put the sway bar links on upside down...meant no way to...

    Wheelin Trip: Powell's Mtn, VA

Took the 'stinks on their first offroad ride! Beautiful day, not crowded. Friendly jeeper suggested the track was too tough...said this on his way back down after HE turned around! Phooey. Expy chewed it up. Great day!

Any tips or pitfalls in replacing the rear UPPER trailing arms? (control arms)

Was able to get mine in without much cranking. just the jack... getting the old ones off? Much tougher. The nut that holds it on the axle is that dumb nut/clip. Both of mine snapped on first torque. and the way they're made, had little flanges on the nut that minimized wrench seating...

    New shoes!

*Update* So...the new shocks I installed (Monroe Reflex) didn't have the travel needed in the rear after the spacers were put on. What was, at first, a fun, bouncy ride became a tooth-rattling nightmare. The girls would get tossed out of their booster seats  !!! Ordered and installed...

    Plugs/COP's

good on ya, pony! did this myself a few weeks ago. I didn't have to remove the fuel rail, but it woulda made some of the angles easier. Mine was chugging at 50mph under load, Go4...

Rot out trailing arms and ebay?

just did this myself. those are the arms I bought. Others will also recommend PMC, as well. I'm satisfied with the quality, but do not tow. I know several folks on here have used the PMC control arms and may be able to offer better feedback on them. If you do it yourself, have a sawzall and...

Aaaaand...done. I'm sore in too many places, but love the look and the ride! Real story: if I can do this stuff, *anyone* can! Guessing I qualify for the Lifted Expy Club now? :smoke2:
