I second checking for vacuum...the PCV line/valve is common problem.....spray some brake cleaner when idling rough in area along the PCV line and if it picks up to normal then you have a leak somewhere(might not be the PCV line just a vacuum leak also)
I would look at the door module also(thingy that allows you to roll up windows after ignition turned off/door buzzer) this can make so funny noises when acting up
Just replaced a rear axle in my 98 expy and had it jacked up by the differential.....had it up to 75 on m24 yesterday and no shudder or rear end blown apart....take your lumps, eat your crow and get your truck fixed already
Does it run rough under load or just idle? if more so idle then I would check the PCV line first for a vacuum leak. these are notorious for getting dry rot and loosing vacuum especially in the older tritons. just take some break cleaner and spray in the area of the hose when in rough idle.....if...
sounds like a lose of vacuum...these motors are notorious for having pcv lines go bad from rot and wear....with motor on a idling rough spray some brake cleaner in the areas along the pcv line...if idle picks up to normal then you have a hole in the line somewhere
you could try programming your new fob to the old truck and see if that fob works using a 3x lock button(this program trick works with my 98 exp but don't know if works on newer models).....get in drivers seat and shut door then put key in cylinder and cycle from off to accessory really fast 7-8...
Pcv valve and the line that runs to back of throttle body......this can go bad a get air holes causing lose of vacuum which cause rough idle...to check this start if you can then take a can of break cleaner and spray the whole length of the pcv hose...if it revs to normal idle when doing this...
sorry for necro-ing this thread but since there was no definite answer but I had same problem(radio ON and working but no sound) Turns out it is a fuse in the engine compartment see picture
