    Probably a stupid question

I have a 1998 Expedition too. I can see how you would say it lacks some power. I think it is probably one of the weakest of all the Expeditions - I believe the next year they increased the power, then again later on, then again. My father's 2006 5.4 has truly noticible power - its impressive...

    Suspension Clunk

Ok - Great news...the soft/gentle suspension clunk has been solved. It was not solved by me - but by a very smart mechanic at a Ford dealer. The night before, I checked the ball joints myself, and peered at the motor mounts and looked at the sway bar...all seemed fine. He immediately...

    Suspension Clunk

Hi. I have the same problem with my 1998 XLT. Can you let me know if you have since found the cause of the problem. Since my truck's lower ball joints are new and the sway-bar links look good, I am guessing its the upper balljoints or the shocks some how... Please let me know.

The Battery can do curious things, just FYI

I have a 98 Expedition, but this story is about my 97 Taurus SHO, just to share a nugget of info with the forum... A couple weeks ago, I would start the car, start to drive away, then the whole car would stall, with complete electrical failure. Lights, chimes, radio, all power off the...

Door Ajar light works in opposite

My friends 2004 Expedition has a curious problem. The door ajar light is typically on, unless one particular door is opened, then it goes off as long as that door is opened. Any ideas?

    2002 Expedition High Idle

I have to do this about once per year with my 1997 Taurus SHO. I take off the intake hose to the throttle body, then spray cleaner on some paper towels, and by hand rub them in and out of the throttle body. While I am doing this, I put something heavy, like a big book, on the throttle...

    1999 side mirrors

I would like to fix shakey mirrors on a 98 Expedition. RWINCH says to pull the mirrors according to Muth. Does anyone know if this means to pull off the glass by hand (with gloves) with the mirrors still on the truck? Could someone who has fixed them confirm? Otherwise, I think I should...

    I want Fog Lights!

Today I got the foglights and the new switch installed, and everything works! (Albeit it took some serious cash, about $500 - I must have lost it a bit to attempt this.) I now know the following: The first generation expeditions were pre-wired for fog lights at the factory. These were the...

    I want Fog Lights!

dubedition2003, Ok, thanks. So, your truck did not already have the wires for the fog lights? My 1998 seems to have the wires hanging up above the fog lights, they are factory tagged to sheet metal using a white bristly-push-pin. (To see them, you have to get on the ground, on your...

dubedition2003, did you end up using the new factory fog light switch WITH the AUTOZONE wiring harness?

    newbie cruise control question

My 98 XLT does not have a Cruise light either...but hey, the buttons light up on the steering wheel - which looks cool. :-)

    Sway Bar Question???

It is possible that the nuts at the lower end of the links rusted out, and the links got knocked off. This happened to my 98 XLT on one side (passenger). I was installing new brake rotors and pads, and looked over and noticed it was missing. They are an easy install, just don't over-tighten.

    Oil Consumption Poll for 5.4L

I have an inherited 98 XLT that is in pretty good condition, with 125k miles on the clock. However, I think it consumes some oil, about 1 quart of oil every 2000 miles. While I don't think this is too bad, I was wondering what other owners of the 5.4L have to say. Please let me know...
