Mine doesn't appear to have any dots over the sensor area. I've attached a picture. The window was dirty so the smear you see is where I wiped it off with my hand.
I noticed just a hair of play in mine, so I replaced it with the one below. Like yours, it had the same amount of play as the original. I will say that the new one was much better quality.

My 2011 expedition made it to 50k before the front driver shock blew out. I replaced them with Bilstein 4600's (P# 24-197717) and the truck rides and drives much better. My brothers 2009 F150 front shock started leaking around 45k. Apparently the OEM ones are junk.
