That O2 sensor could be the problem! Fuel filter changed under 10K ago. Installed 4 new O2 sensors to rid myself of continuous trouble light. No change. Turns out my catalytic converters had been punched at some point, so before and after sensors must read the same causing the code. Good...

You should have bought it with the bench seat! Then we could've swapped my buckets, which I hate... for your bench! :) In stone and vinyl and I'd have paid you! :)
LOL! Guess I forgot all about that...
My Exy w/201,000 on it starts up just fine after sitting overnight.. About 15 seconds in it runs rough for another 15 seconds, then runs fine again. Very annoying. Any Clues?
TIA, from a very ol'man! :)
I've changed two on the driver's side over 8 years.... And I'm old and feeble! LOL! It's a piece o'cake! Go for the new regular. Being on a fixed income, I had to go with E-Bay aftermarket. The first one lasted 40,000 miles, and the second, 30,000. :D
Could be an SSV (Special Service Vehicle) instead of an SUV. A little more heavy duty, I believe. Also, look at your speedometer for text that says the speedometer has been verified.
A fine starting point, Jim! Thank you! And I just happen to have a trusty O2 socket! IF, I can find it! LOL! Is there a way to read the O2 sensor with a meter? :)
2007 5.4 ltr 197K miles. My car starts just fine! And it runs fine for about 10 seconds. Then, as the (choke?) slowly opens and the engine moves down towards normal idle, my car coughs and sputters like it had Covid or something. Then, once it gets to normal idle my car returns to its...
I had this problem with my '07 Expedition! It would start for a second and then stop! Every time the same thing. What was it? It was an air leak in the intake from when the tune-up was done. The big rubber hose that goes from the intake line to the thingie that looks like a carburator (but...
"If the engine is that bad, how are they clocking 200,000+ miles?"
Seems like you answered your own question to me. :D Mine '07 (Expy-SSV) has 190,000 on it and I've only had an O2 sensor error on it. My 2001 Expy (also an SSV, (my first Ford) had 270,000 on it and never had a trouble light!
73 and on a fixed income. A smoke machine sounds like a mighty expensive purchase. What can I get away with that will do the job? I haven't a clue! :O Thank you!
Upon disconnecting the battery, don't you have to ground the positive for ten to fifteen minutes to make sure the capacitors in the system discharge? Just askin'.... ?
Does it try to start? Like for about 2 seconds? If so I'd check air intake all the way to the throttle body. An air leak can ruin your whole day! Found mine where the hose (70mm) connected to the throttle body. Mechanic didn't get the hose on properly and vibration opened it right up! Good...
