On my 2000 Ford Expedition the A/C clutch will not cycle on and off. With the outside temperature @ 75 deg. the low side shows 40 psi. and the high side reads around 160 psi. From those reading I think the charge is ok in the system. So with the control inside the truck on a/c only shouldn't the compressor clutch cycle on and off? I know if the controls inside is set to Max then the a/c clutch should stay engaged all the time. Is there a switch in the system to tell it to cycle on and off. If so where is it located and how do I replace it............Thanks in advance for the help...........Gary

The manual a/c systems are controlled by low and high side pressures. Once the system is within the operating range the compressor will stay engaged. The electronic systems will monitor the evap core temperature and cycle the compressor as necessary. As long as your evap isn't freezing up I would worry about it and enjoy the ac.
