My truck has a slight exhaust leak on acceleration but when it's idling it has almost a diesel type sound to it. Not as loud as a diesel truck but that's the closest thing I can compare it too. Only in idle though. Once you start driving you can't hear it at all. I was wondering if it's somehow related to the leak.

Also, how can I tell if my 4x4 works? I don't have a jack strong enough to lift it up on stands.

You need a mechanic's stethoscope to zero in on the sound. Worst would be a connec ting rod noise. For the 4x4 you need to put the truck on a lift, gas station perhaps, to see if the front wheels are moving.

I wish gas stations around here had lifts lol. I would have to go to a shop and they would charge me an arm and a leg just to do that. I'm confident it isn't working since I can't hear anything lock into place when I turn the switch and it doesn't handle any differently from what I can tell.
