Hi Folks, I have a very frustrating problem with my 06 Expedition. Car was running great although it did have a few electronic issues which I will explain here later. Parked the car for a couple of days and when I attempted to start the car on the third day nothing happened....the only noises I could here was #1 sounded like fuel pump clicked on and a buzzing from fuse panel. My assumption was that I had blown a fuse. I have checked the battery and also do not see any broken or corroded wires. I have switched a few fuses and replays however I really have no idea which one to check. I shorted the solenoid and the starter turned but the engine did not crack over. The main thing I notice is that I have no instrument panel. No gauges at all!!! I can run the fan and a few other items. When I try to turn it over I have observed that the headlights do not dim so I am assuming no power is being drawn during that attempt. Ok the electronic issues most for quite some time which didn't seem to effect start at least in the past.

Erratic fuel guage....shows full or empty randomly

Door locks freeze in winter.

MOST RECENT ISSUE WAS REAR HATCH UNLOCKING OFTEN FOR NO APPARENT REASON.

FYI - security light is blinking, blinks fast when attempting to crank.

Thanks for any ideas.

I had a similar problem and I had a spare instrument cluster and installed it and the truck turned. I know it's not easy to have one but worth a shot if you can find a cheap one.

The fast blinking theft light is telling you that the system thinks it is trying to be stolen. When this happens the newer gens will disable the starting system and fuel injection system. You should check the battery voltage before trying to diagnose electrical problems that may not exist.

As stamp suggests Check battery voltage. If voltage is in specs I would then disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes or longer. While the battery is disconnected clean the terminals so they are nice and clean. Then reconnect the battery, make sure all connections are tight then try starting

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I found the main problem. A bad ground at drivers left foot behind a removable panel. It was very corroded and for good reason.... why would anyone think to put a ground so close to the floor where it is constantly exposes to moisture in New England. When I discovered the problem with help from a bunch of sources the instament panel was powered up and the car started. However I let it run about ten minutes as it was 10pm and stut it off the next day with full battery power and instument panel working it failed to start.
