Yesterday my front A/C just quit working on my 2010 Expedition EL Limited. It worked fine on the way to work, on the way to lunch, and to the Ford Dealer to get some wiper blades. It must have known I was at the Ford Dealer, because the front A/C just quit working when I got back in from the Parts Counter! I thought it was the controller, so I turned the truck off and cranked it again to the same - no front air, but rear air. So I went back to work and some threads on this website said it could be blower motor. I checked the fuses and non blown up on the engine block. After a long hot drive home, I got my wife's little fingers involved in pulling any fuse that could do with to confirm they were good. In the process she broke a 40 amp circuit breaker, so off to the dealer Monday to get a new one!

So this is where it gets weird. I unhooked the ground cable from the battery so my wife would not get fried playing with fuses. After determining the fuses I could check were good, I hooked the battery cable up so I could go fill up the tank. AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN!

So this where I need your advice on a few things:

1. Do I need to go get it in to the dealer for a code pull, inspection?

2. How the heck do you pull those big circuit breakers (clear plastic female ones) out of the fuse box safely?

3. Friday, I had the truck serviced - oil change, power steering and transmission fluid flush - multi point inspection. Do you all think it was the battery ground cable was not connected tight enough or something?

Please give me some feedback! I am going on a 1500 mile trip for the 4th and I need to see if I need to bring it back to the dealer before I head out.

Thanks!

Garrett

1) Don't waste your money on wiper blades at a dealer unless you're getting a discount.
2) It is almost impossible to diagnose an electrical problem when it is working "correctly".
3) That problem isn't going to set a code unless you have the EATC system.
4) With a test light or dvm you can test the fuses without pulling them.
5) When electrical failures occur you sometimes you may get a burning smell. Otherwise it is poor connections or outright failure.
6) Just about any automotive shop should have circuit breakers. Try NAPA - There are two types, get the automatic reset type.
7) If it quits again then take it in for work if you are unable to do the work yourself.

Thanks Stamp. I am a bit OCD when it comes to my vehicles, and I like to get OEM parts. I get a discount on my wiper blades. I get them for a few bucks more than Wally World, so I figure with the rain-sensing system, I will use the OEM replacement. However, I may go to Bosch blades next time, because they don't even take the time to stamp Motorcraft on the blade!

OCD is ok as long as you're not armed and hearing voices....
As long as Ford hasn't changed the design the blower motor should be located under the dash on the passenger side. If it stops again smack under the dash with your hand on that side. If the fan starts then the problem is in that area. If not the fan switch, blower motor resistor and connectors would be checked.
If you are in what I refer to as a salt state they may be corrosion on connections under the hood from the salt used during winter.

Yea, I see you're in Texas after that last line...

Air conditioning issue

Having an odd issue. The air conditioning on the drivers side and rear are working group fine. However the passenger front only kicks out hot air. I am a novice but quick learner if anyone has suggestions as to what I should look for and fix. Thanks.

Same problem. Did you find a solution?

Note though, intermittently quits and both front and rear now.

Similar to this too. My AC/climate control starts for about 1 second then stops working. About 5-7 minutes later, does it again. Then again. Then again.

Weird. Anyone experience this. 2010 Limited

I'm having the same problem as the original poster as well. Yesterday the front air would not work, I could hear the blend door clicking (separate problem) but the climate control system didn't seem to engage the blower motor. Today all was fine up front, but now the rear air won't engage the blower motor. I have no clue where to start diagnostics on this

Have your passenger stick there foot in the area what would be behind the dash and nudge the blower motor. You will likely have to get it replaces.

Man same exact thing happened to my wife's Truck todayou as ggariga. Check all the fuse under the glove box and in the engine bay, all fine. So I turned it on and noticed what I think maybe the ac clutch or something. The belt was turning every other pulley but that one. It was the one on the bottom farthest to the left. Turned it off sprayed some lube and gave it a little tap with a rubber hammer. Boom!!!! It started spinning. Don't know much about the mechanics but it works now. Probably means its going to go out soon...

Anyway, good luck guys
Andrew
