I had dumped literally thousands into it. Alternator, both exhaust manifolds, all 4 trailing arms and she developed a rod knock. Among the other things like the windows not always working, failing window motors, tachometer stuck at 2500 rpm, radio not working, etc.

When I traded it into Ford for 500 bucks (yes I know it was a bad deal but I honestly got a great deal on my new car so the loss was offset)

I was tired of having to fix something new on the 1997 what seemed to be every other day it seemed. Sure older vehicles will need more attention but damn. Not like this truck did. My 2000 mustang GT went over a year before I needed to fix a single thing. But maybe I just had bad luck.

Anyway I got a brand new fiesta SFE. It's fun as hell and I am averaging over 42 mpg! 5 speed manual of course. Also not having to worry about a single repair for 3 years and no power train repairs for 5 is amazing. Only paid 14,000 out the door after all expenses, taxes, etc, with 40 miles on it. It was a 2015 and the 2017s are about to come out so they wanted it gone.

I'll .is you all and I wish you luck! You are all great people, except stamp, you are kind of a jerk but i still respect you lol.

Anyway I know many of you don't know me and don't particularly care but I felt like I should say goodbye and explain my reason for leaving. Catch you on the fiesta forums!

Live long and prosper!

Now for Questions I just have to know the answers to:

You are only 21 and on your third vehicle?

Your just joined the Forum 5 weeks ago and already dumping the Expy?

If they were only giving me $500 for my vehicle (which is what KBB says trade in is by the way, $1000 private sale), I would have kept it, put a motor in it, then either drove the wheels off it or do a private sale. You put all that money in it already, what is a new engine versus having higher car insurance and monthly car payments?

Having had a couple money pits I can tell you that, eventually, you get to a point where you realize you're just throwing throwing good money after bad. At some point you have to have the sense to cut your losses and move on. It gets really frustrating being stranded over and over again also. Moreover, if you're relying on the vehicle to get you to/from work, school, etc. you can't keep dealing with all of the downtime. My employees only get 20 hours of time for the first 6 months of work (company policy). If you have used those 20 hours and your vehicle breaks down making you even 1 hour late for work, you're out of a job; no exceptions.

Congrats on the new ride but man stamp is a champ. One of the most respectful & helpful members I've ever came across in any forum.

Couldn't have said it better. Stamp has pointed me in the right direction many times and has probably directly saved me a few thousand dollars! This has been directly in regards to my posted questions or by reading his replies to other Forum members. Sure every once in a while he is off the mark, but who isn't when troubleshooting via the Internet and not physically being there. Those few times are few and far between, besides what price can one put on accurate and free information that somebody has graciously taken time out of their busy day to give to somebody else?
