As you can see in the pictures, my 2000 Expedition has some pretty bad rust on it. The rocker panels are very bad, and there a lot of rust in the rear wheel well area. The frame is rusted as well, but it still seems solid. The bottoms of the doors are getting quite rusty on the inside. The rest of the vehicle still looks nice and the floor pan isn't bad at all.
I'm planning on coating the frame and the underside of the truck, and painting what's left of the rocker panels before I cut them out and replace them. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could do to fix the rust in the wheel wells? I don't have a welder, so is there any way I could put on new rocker panels without welding, such as self tapping screws?
I've had the truck since February of this year (2016), and it has about 171,000 miles on it now. I really like this tuck and have become extremely attached to it, so I don't know if I could give it up. Do you guys think I should try to fix it, leave it and cover it with paint, or try to find a different vehicle?
Thanks.
