Recently just purchased my 2011 expedition el limited and the passenger side running board it not working. I inspected and found the aluminum wedge knocked out. Here's where it gets weird. I tried reinstalling the wedge with new bolt but the motor shaft cutout does not line up where the wedge installs. Also the setting on the boards in the on dash setting is on auto but when I drive above 5 mph I can hear the passenger side motor running? Help!!!

recently purchased 2011 King Ranch EL. Passenger side running board motor activates but doesnt go up or down. Does anyone know where to buy a passenger side motor for an EL? I'm not willing to pay the ridiculous prices from Ford

Unfortunately, Ford only offers these as an entire assembly, which runs about $2K. You can pick up an assembly used for about $800. Check http://car-part.com if you can't find one locally. Occasionally, you may find a motor alone at the junkyard; they typically go for about $500. If you or someone you know is comfortable rebuilding the existing the motor, repairs can be done for far less. A guy on one of the other forums fixed his for less than $50 - but he dismantled and reassembled the motor itself and clearly knew what he was doing.

Power running board replacement motors are available all day from Ford. And from Dorman. Have been for years.

Just an example:
Motorcraft part # 9L7Z16A507A
Dorman part # 747-900

Not sure that I'd buy a used one from a junkyard for about $500 when you can buy new for $150 more.

But if your motor activates, why replace it?

Im looking for Passenger side running board motor. Cheapest Ive found from ford was over $1400 for the passenger side. I have no idea why there is such a difference between driver and passenger side.

Does anyone know if the running board motors are the same between an Expedition and Expedition EL (short wheelbase versus long wheel base)?
