Did a search and didn't really find anything, if I missed it, just point me toward it.

I am wondering if anybody has replaced the 2003 EB factory Driving Lights with either LEDs or the newer non-OEM improved direct replacement units (they are not OEM and are said to be an improvement over stock).

Anybody have any suggestions or experience with this?

I'm a bit confused when you say "driving lights". Do you mean the marker lamps that flash when you put the flashers on?

The lights in the lower bumper. When they are Clear, I call them driving lights and when they are amber, I call them fog lights.

On CardID, I see OEM replacements. I also see direct replacement upgrades (whole unit including a stronger higher wattage bulb). I see upgrade bulbs such as Halogen, Xenon, and multiple LED single unit bulbs that use the factory socket.

What I don't see are any direct replacements units that fit directly in the factory spot that are made up of multiple CREE LEDs.

I am trying to avoid anything that is similar in reflector and bulb design to the original as I do a bunch of off road/gravel road driving in the mountains (about 100 miles a week) and the washboard and ripples in the corners create a lot of vibration. What is happening is that the bulbs either go bad, or the reflector vibrates off, or the bulb vibrates turning out of the socket holder and falls out and is dangling under the bumper. I have tried RTV and new factory sockets and just about any of SWAG ideas I could think of, but nothing has worked. I am under the front bumper about ever 600 miles messing with the Fog/Driving lights on one side or the other (read ever 10 days to two weeks).

And I did see your post CERTUS about the units on Ebay in your Light Bar thread. I am looking for something just like them but that would be a direct replacement.

Even though these are not direct replacement they still look great. If you don't mind me asking, how did you install them? The manufacture's bracket? Another company's bracket? Garage made Bracket? Used something else? Would you mind taking a close-up picture of one of them so I can see how they are mounted?

No, There aren't any direct aftermarket whole assembly replacements for the fog/driving lights. That is why I went ahead and retrofitted the LED assemblies that I have on my Expo now.

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I removed the entire stock assembly, clipped the tabs from both long sides and one short end from the back, press fit the LED from the front, found my angles and used a 45-degree drill to make my holes for the bolts that went into the sides of the LEDs that would've held the supplied brackets in place.

I did go to FastenAll and got replacements stainless hardware because I didn't trust the Asian hardware that was supplied. Also, I used some blue LocTite to ensure they wouldn't back out from the vibration.

Thanks Certus, looks like a path I can take.

Quick questions: how bright are these puppies? Would it be safe to run them using the OEM harness (using a relay if they draw more then stock) IE all I need to do is pull out the light switch like I do to turn on the stock fog lights and also having them on with low beams then automatically going off when high beams selected? Or are they to bright to run on the highway with low beams?

I used the OEM leads but added a relay to ensure full voltage being sent when on. By default, they will turn off when the high beams are selected.

They are BRIGHT but other people's safety is not my concern in the end. My concern is for the safety of me and mine.

You could, if you were so inclined to do so, run a completely independent switch and harness so you could run them independently at your discretion.

In that case, doesn't it make sense to just have them on whenever the engine is running and you are driving as in: running lights during the day, on with low beams, on with high beams!

That's not a problem. Just locate your high beam lead using a tester and tap it!
