Take it easy the first 100 miles. If you can take it out on highway. Varie speed drive at 55mph for awhile. Then up to 60 to 70mph. Above all don't hot rod it while breaking in. You want piston rings to seat in. Good luck.

Thanks, I live right off the highway so its going to be easy to do that type of driving. Plus the dealership is 50 miles down the highway.

Never realized the 5.4 had this much power. It's funny how my old engine struggled to get on the freeway and this new one gets up to 75 very quickly. Pulls very nice.

My old friend if mine were just talking about this topic today here in the Bay Area. Rule of thumb, change oil at 500 To 1000 miles first oil change after new or rebuilt motor. You don't have to but if you really want to examine oil coming out of new motor get a mesh filter like sifting paint through, and poor some into filter, examine for metal content. It's kind of overkill, but these days with crappy metals being used in camshafts and crank bearings, you got to be vigilant. I've seen new motors that have problems, yours
