First off, forgive me if this seems like a dumb question or if this has been covered in another thread. I'm trying to figure out what gives you the best bang for your buck.

So, looking on the 5 star tuning website I see that I can get an SCT e-mail tune which will take into account any modifications I have on my expedition for about $105 (or two tunes for about $160 and so on and so on). I called a local performance shop (licensed to do SCT tunes) and asked what they charge for a custom tune and was told about $400. However, I know the local shop would run the truck on a dyno to aid in tuning. In addition, some cursory research showed that $400 for a custom tune is a fairly common price to pay.

Taking all that into consideration, which is better. Is a tune done with the truck on a dyno worth the extra money? or will an e-mail tune get the same results or close to the same?

Dyno tune should be better than any email tune. Or data log to help with email tune.

5star has very good tunes. I have used them on two vehicles.

Thanks, I'm thinking I'm going to go the route you did and get a tune from 5 Star Tune. It just seems easier and cheaper. I appreciate your response!
