Ooops.. I think I was confused by the model #'s... the 26br is 31 feet long... not sure the expedition could handle that one at 6500lbs fully loaded with max cargo.

So Id likely be looking at the 22rbpr which is a little more than 26' long.

Sorry I completely missed that post with the links.

In looking at the specs for both of those models,

Your expy has a 6900# tow rating
The 26RBPR has a gross weight of 7500# (It's over the rating of the Expy)
The 22RBPR has a gross weight of 6500# (It's under the rating of the Expy but not by much)

So it appears the 22RBPR is within the specs of the Expedition. But in my opinion you would be very close to the max rating of the expy.

Since I don't know what your plans are for using the camper. Distance you plan to drive. Type of roads or any hills mountains you may encounter are things you should take into consideration. Also you need to know your towing experience and limitations and just how comfortable you would be driving that combination.

With 16" tires I should be at 7400 max. but I see your point.. thinking I should change to a different tow vehicle. thinking 99-2001 dodge diesel would be a better choice.. so this exercise was important and I appreciate all the information!

You seem to be interested in either of those Two models and if the is what you want Then I will say to you something that I just read earlier today

Put the horse before the cart

The expy will handle the smaller trailer but the weights are close and your not leaving much of a safety margin.
You would be better off getting a HORSE with a 3.73 axel and a tow rating of at least 8500 lbs and that would handle either of those carts

All of my comments are my opinion and there will be others that may agree or disagree. My comments are also based on what I am comfortable with and also on many years of towing RV's

I totally agree.. Ive pulled overloaded before.. It would negate the entire premise of a relaxing camping trip.

Last October I bought a 2000 Expy EB 4x4 with tow pkg. 117,000 miles paid $3500. Truck is in great shape. I tow a 2014 27.5 Dutchman using a WD hitch. Gross weight of the trailer is 7400lbs which does exceed the towing capacity of my Expy, however the empty weight is 4900lbs. We use ours for short trips of 2 weeks or less and don't carry extra un-needed stuff with us. Actual towing weight is below the Expy's max capacity and it tows just fine even with the Load range C tires. I do plan on upgrading to a Load range E tire before next season since the C range tires are kinda squishy under load.

Having Load Range tires wouldn't hurt as long as you don't think that will mean you will be able to tow a greater weight.
As long as you keep the weight of the TT below the weight of the TV rated tow rating you should be OK

If you were to change to a second gen expy that has the 3.73 axel then you would have a 8650# towing capacity. That is why you see two expy's in my signature line
