Erratic Knock Retard Index Readings

How did the 87 performance tune run? Were you able to run on 87 gas with the increased compression?

I never spent much time messing with the 87. I only got that for times when I'm out in the boon docks hunting and can't get 91. I want to get the 91 dialed in first, as that will be my preferred tune.

Good to know you were able to do it. I was a little nervous about trying. Did you disconnect any of the heater core hoses to get to the electrical connector? They seem in the way but not to the point that it would prevent me from getting a hand to the rear of the engine.

I just pushed the heater hose out of the way and dropped in a long extension from above the intake to take the bolt out. On my truck, the bolt for the sensor is up by the front of the engine, the electrical connector/connection was the hard part for me. I had to lay on top of the engine and wedge my hand back behind the engine, on top of the trans bellhousing and feel around until I found the connector. Not fun but doable.

Swapped out knock sensors this weekend. Finally got around to doing some data logging and it shows the same thing as before. No surprise there. At least I eliminated the sensor as a suspect.

At this point I'm just going to do all I can to eliminate any knock. I'm in the process of getting it tuned from 5 Star and I bought colder spark plugs with a smaller gap. That should help some. I'll post if I make any headway

I want to get the 91 dialed in first, as that will be my preferred tune.

This is slightly unrelated but did you see any MPG increase/decrease with the 91 performance tune?

My tune is still not right, so i'm not certain about gas milage yet. It should be worse though, I put in hot cams and ported heads, headers, high flow cats, gibson exhaust etc.
